Fast, professional websites for Southwick’s independents, trades and shops. Built by a designer up the road in Hassocks, live in days, everything included.
Southwick is a proper town in its own right, not just a strip between Brighton and Shoreham, and its independents deserve a website that says so. Page Forge builds Southwick businesses a clean, quick site that turns a local Google search into a phone call or a booking. Everything included, live in about a week, from £99.
We are a short drive north in Hassocks, so the coast road is familiar ground. Around Southwick Square and along Albion Street there is a solid run of independent shops, services and trades, exactly the businesses that live on being easy to find and looking credible the moment someone lands on the page. A slow or missing website hands that work to a competitor in Shoreham or Portslade who simply turned up first in the results, even if you do the better job.
You do not need to know anything technical. Tell us what you do and where you work, and we handle the design, the words, your .co.uk domain, the hosting, the SSL and the upkeep afterwards. We build for businesses right along this stretch, so you get one local person who answers the phone rather than a support queue in another town. If you run a trade, our websites for tradespeople are built around the searches your customers make, so the site earns its keep instead of just sitting there.
On Your Doorstep
Southwick sits in the Adur district of West Sussex, about five miles west of Brighton, covering some 863 hectares with a population of a little over 13,000. The town falls roughly into three bands: the harbour and its industries south of Brighton Road, the older residential streets between there and the Old Shoreham Road, dating from the mid-19th century to the 1950s, and the newer housing running up toward the Downs. The A259 coast road runs through the middle of it, while the A27 sweeps past to the north.
The place is old and can prove it. Southwick appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 under its Saxon name Esmerewick, meaning roughly East pool hamlet, and was first recorded as Southwick in 1309. Beneath Manor Hall Road lie the remains of a lavishly decorated first-century Roman villa, similar in design to Fishbourne, that was once opened to the public during the summer. There is a long-standing tradition that Charles II spent a night at cottages on Southwick Green before slipping across to France, and the Old Town Hall on Albion Street was finished in 1906.
The heart of the town today is Southwick Square, an open-air shopping centre that grew up after the town expanded north of the Old Shoreham Road in the mid-20th century, sitting next to the community centre and the library, which was rebuilt in 2007. The Green, once common land central to the old village, is split into two fields and still hosts cricket, the war memorial and the travelling fairs each summer and autumn. There is a leisure centre and recreation ground on Old Barn Way, home to Southwick Football Club, and a hockey club too.
The railway reached Southwick back in 1840 as the original terminus of the line, and the station now sits on the West Coastway Line between Brighton and Worthing, with the 700 Coastliner buses running along the A259 as well. For a local business, that specific detail is worth more than any amount of generic copy. It is what makes a website read as genuinely from Southwick, and it is the kind of thing Google increasingly rewards over wording that could describe any town on the coast. We write your site so it sounds like it comes from here, and we make sure it names the right county, because Southwick is West Sussex, not East, even though Portslade next door is not.
Also covering: Shoreham-by-Sea, Portslade, Fishersgate, Kingston Buci, Hove and the surrounding villages.
