Fast, professional websites for Sompting’s trades, home services and independents. Built by a local Sussex designer, live in days, everything included.
Sompting sits quietly between Lancing and Worthing, and a lot of good local businesses here are easy to miss online because they simply do not come up. Page Forge fixes that with a fast, professional site that is designed, written and live in days, not months. Everything included, live in about a week, from £99.
We are a short drive away in Hassocks, so this corner of the Adur district is a patch we know. Much of the trade around Sompting and Cokeham is home services: builders, plumbers, gardeners, electricians and the like, the sort of business that lives on local calls and word of mouth. When a neighbour searches and you are not there, the job goes to someone in Worthing or Lancing who was. A quick, credible website keeps that work close to home, and getting it live fast means you stop losing enquiries sooner.
You do not need to know anything technical. Tell us what you do and where you cover, and we handle the design, the words, your .co.uk domain, the hosting, the SSL and the updates afterwards. We are just up the road and work along the coast mostly by phone, email and video, visiting when it helps. If you run a trade, our websites for tradespeople are set up around the near-me searches your customers make, and priced so a small local firm can afford to be found.
On Your Doorstep
Sompting is a village and civil parish in the Adur district of West Sussex, sitting between Lancing and Worthing at the foot of the South Downs, about two miles north-east of the centre of Worthing. It is half grassland slopes and half developed plain, with its 20th-century estates dovetailing into those of slightly larger Lancing next door. The A27 cuts across the top of the village, the highest point of the parish is Steep Down at 149 metres, and the nearest railway station is Lancing.
Its landmark is genuinely rare. The Church of St Mary the Blessed Virgin is a Grade I-listed Anglo-Saxon and Norman church whose tower is topped with a Rhenish helm, a four-sided gabled cap that is very unusual in England. It was first built by the Saxons around 960 AD, then granted to the Knights Templar in the 12th century and later passed to the Knights Hospitaller in the 15th. The A27 has cut it off from the centre of the village since 1939. The old rectory, which the Templars also once held, dates from 1791.
There is more history than the modern estates let on. Sompting Abbotts, an 1856 building on the site of a manor going back to Norman times, was long a school; Queen Caroline, consort of George IV, stayed there in 1814 on her way to the Continent. The village name comes from Old English and means, roughly, the settlement of the dwellers at the marsh, first recorded as Suntinga in a document of 956 and rendered as Sultinges in Domesday. Up on the Downs at Park Brow, a settlement lasted from the Bronze Age until its buildings were burned down around 270 AD.
The village takes in the hamlet of Beggars Bush on the Downs and the former hamlets of Upper and Lower Cokeham, now part of the Sompting and Lancing conurbation, while the Sompting Gap and Broadwater Brook run down toward Worthing. For a local business that sort of detail matters. It is what makes a website read as genuinely from Sompting rather than generic copy that could be about any village on the coast, and Google increasingly rewards pages that clearly belong to a place. We write your site to sound like it comes from here, name the right neighbours, and keep it accurate that Sompting is West Sussex.
Also covering: Lancing, Worthing, Broadwater, Cokeham, Coombes and the surrounding villages.
