Fast, professional websites for Newhaven’s trades, port businesses and independents. Built by a Sussex designer, live in days, everything included.
Newhaven is a working port town, with trades, marine and industrial firms, and independents spread from the harbour up to Denton and Mount Pleasant. A lot of that work starts with a local search, so Page Forge builds Newhaven businesses a site that loads fast and gets found quickly. Everything is included, and most sites are live in about a week from £99.
It sits at the mouth of the River Ouse in the Lewes district of East Sussex, with a population of nearly thirteen thousand and a working harbour that still runs a ferry to Dieppe. That gives the town a real mix of trade, from home services to businesses on the Denton Island business park. When a customer searches, they glance at the first results and call whoever looks established and nearby. A slow or missing site loses that call.
None of the technical side is your problem. Tell us what you do and where you work, and we handle the design, the words, your .co.uk domain, the hosting and the upkeep. We build for trades and small firms right along the East Sussex coast and beyond, from Oilfire Heating in Uckfield to Sindall builders, so you get a local designer who answers the phone.
On Your Doorstep
Newhaven earned its name honestly. There was a Saxon village here from around 480 AD, known as Meeching, on ground below a Bronze Age fort on Castle Hill. Through the Middle Ages the Ouse ran out to sea at Seaford, but as a shingle spit choked that outlet a new channel was cut through below Castle Hill in the mid-16th century, creating a sheltered harbour and, in time, the “new haven” the town is named after. The present breakwater was built in 1890, and the harbour still handles freight and runs two sailings a day to Dieppe.
The town grew in importance after the railway arrived in 1847 and the cross-Channel ferry service to Dieppe began, and it ended up with three stations: Newhaven Town, Newhaven Harbour and the now redundant Newhaven Marine. It has collected some history along the way: the exiled French king Louis Philippe landed here in disguise in 1848, large numbers of Canadian troops were based here in the Second World War and the Dieppe Raid of 1942 was largely launched from the harbour, and when Lord Lucan vanished in 1974 his car was found abandoned in Norman Road, hinting that he had taken the ferry.
Above the harbour stands Newhaven Fort, a Victorian Palmerston fort built on Castle Hill after the 1859 Royal Commission and the largest defence work ever built in Sussex, now open as a museum. The town’s lifeboat, first commissioned in 1803 after the wreck of HMS Brazen off the coast, is among the oldest in Britain. On the business side, Newhaven is home to firms like the art printer King & McGaw and the Denton Island business park, with its Enterprise Centre pulling in new companies, and it is the proposed landside base for the Rampion offshore wind farm.
For a local business, that working-town identity is an asset. When someone searches “electrician Newhaven” or “near me”, Google leans on where a business actually is and how well its site is built. We write your pages so they clearly belong to Newhaven, set up your Google Business Profile, and keep the site fast on a phone, which is where most of these searches happen.
Also covering: Seaford, Peacehaven, Denton, Bishopstone, Lewes, Telscombe Cliffs and the surrounding villages.
