West Sussex runs from the Surrey border down to the coast at Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, taking in Chichester, Horsham, Crawley and the Gatwick economy. Crawley is the largest settlement in that half. It is a mix of cathedral-city professional services, big commuter towns and rural trades, and the search competition varies wildly from one to the next. Mid Sussex is our home patch: Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and East Grinstead, plus the villages of Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint, Cuckfield and Lindfield. The district moved from East Sussex into West Sussex in 1974, which still confuses directories. It is well connected to London by rail, and full of small firms and one-person businesses that do excellent work but undersell themselves online. East Sussex stretches east through Lewes and Uckfield to Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings, and includes the city of Brighton and Hove. Some of it is on our doorstep and some is a fair drive, so we are straight about it: nearby we will happily meet in person, and further afield we work by phone and video and visit when it helps.
