No more plugin updates, security scares or hosting bills. We move you to a fast, secure site that just works, and keep your domain and your Google ranking.
Moving a website off WordPress is the point at which most small businesses finally stop paying for plugins, security patches and a developer on speed-dial. WordPress still runs a huge chunk of the web. For a plumber, a bakery or a one-person firm it is usually more trouble than it is worth: add-ons that need constant updating, holes when they don’t, slow loading, and a separate hosting bill that never quite matches the builder. If that sounds familiar, you do not have to keep living with it. We rebuild you a fast, secure site that needs none of that, and we keep the domain, the email and the Google ranking you already have.
The two things people worry about most are their domain and their ranking, and both are safe when the move is done properly. Your domain stays in your name. We point it at the new site only when that site is live and checked. Every old page gets a 301 redirect, so Google and anyone with an old bookmark follow you across. Your email is separate from the website and keeps working the whole time. There is no downtime: the WordPress site stays up until the switch.
This is not a lift-and-shift of a slow theme onto a new host. We rebuild the site as a hand-coded Page Forge page, carry across the words and images that already work, tidy what needs it, and drop the plugin stack. C4C Group left a limiting WordPress build for a fast Astro site, which then made custom tools possible that WordPress could not handle. Most of our Sussex clients do not need custom tools. They need the monthly WordPress support bill to go away.
Once you are moved, there is nothing for you to update, nothing to patch and no hosting account to chase. Hosting, SSL and six content updates a year sit inside one price. If you ever need a change, you call us rather than logging into wp-admin. The comparison of what you get instead of WordPress is on our WordPress alternative page. The longer how-to, including blog URLs and Search Console, is in how to move off WordPress without losing rankings. If you are not sure whether the current site is even worth saving, start with a free website audit.
On Your Doorstep
A lot of the searches that land here are not “move from WordPress” at all. They are “WordPress support Sussex”, “WordPress maintenance Burgess Hill” or “someone to update my plugins”. We do not take on other people’s WordPress sites as a care plan, and we say so plainly. Paying someone every month to click Update on add-ons is the treadmill we help businesses get off. The honest answer to those searches is usually a rebuild, not another retainer.
Typical WordPress costs hide in pieces. Hosting is one bill. A page-builder licence is another. Security, backup and form plugins stack on top. Then a developer invoices whenever PHP, the theme or WooCommerce needs a patch. Add the hours you spend in wp-admin and the total is almost always more than £29 a month. Our price is a £99 setup plus £29 a month, or £299 a year, with the migration and redirects included. After that there is no plugin stack left to maintain. See what maintenance actually includes.
WordPress permalinks are the other trap. Category folders, date folders and trailing slashes mean old addresses often do not match a clean new URL. We map every ranking page in Search Console before we switch, keep the same path where we can, and 301 the rest. Blog posts that still bring visitors come across too. Leaving a back catalogue behind is how a “simple rebuild” quietly bins years of ranking. A short wobble while Google recrawls is normal. A steady drop almost always means a missing redirect.
AI search cares about the same housekeeping. ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude quote pages they can parse. A plugin-heavy theme is a thick layer of code around your facts, and many WordPress security plugins block GPTBot by accident. After the move we add FAQ pairs, structured data and crawler access, and we can add an llms.txt summary as part of GEO from £99. Google likes the speed. Assistants like the clarity.
The switch
We never take ownership. We point the domain at the new site when it is ready. If you ever left, the address goes with you.
Website and email are separate. Mailboxes, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 stay up through the switch. We do not touch DNS for mail until it is safe.
Every old WordPress address is mapped. Rankings carry across because Google is sent to the new home, not to a dead page.
We bring across the words and photos that already work, including ranking blog posts, then tidy what needs it. Proven pages are assets, not clutter.
The current site stays live until the new one is checked. We only point the domain across once you have signed it off.
Faster HTML, FAQ pairs and crawler access, so search and AI assistants can still find you after the move, often more easily than before.
How It Works
We list every page, note what ranks in Search Console, and agree what carries over. WordPress stays exactly as it is at this stage, so there is no risk and no downtime.
The domain stays in your registrar account, in your name. We only change where it points, and only when the new site is ready. You never hand ownership to us.
We rebuild on a clean stack, bring across your words and images, and keep ranking blog posts rather than leaving them behind. Your email is left untouched throughout.
Category folders, date permalinks and trailing slashes all get a 301 to the new home. This is the step cheap migrations skip, and the one that protects your ranking.
Only once the new site is live and checked do we point the domain. Hosting and plugins get cancelled after, so you are never left with a gap and you stop paying for them.
