Professional websites for Wadhurst’s independent shops, trades and small firms. Built by a Sussex designer working remotely by phone and video, live in days, everything included.
Wadhurst kept something a lot of places lost. It still has a proper working high street, with a butcher, a baker, an ironmonger and a run of independents, and in 2023 The Sunday Times named it the best place to live in the country. Businesses in a town like that trade on reputation, and their websites need to match. Page Forge builds Wadhurst firms a clean, fast site that looks the part. Everything included, live in about a week, from £99.
We are based in Hassocks, over on the far western side of Sussex, so Wadhurst is a good drive away up on the Kent border. That does not get in the way. We build for Wadhurst businesses mostly by phone and video, visiting when it genuinely helps, and most clients never need us on site. You still deal with one person who answers the phone and does the work, not a faceless agency.
You do not need to know anything technical. Tell us what you do and where you work, and we design it, write it, sort your .co.uk domain, email and hosting, and keep it running afterwards. We build for independents and trades right across Sussex, from a bakery to an electrician, so we know how to make a small business look established online.
On Your Doorstep
Wadhurst sits on a high ridge of the Weald, right on the border between Sussex and Kent, about seven miles east of Crowborough and the same distance south of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Henry III granted the town its market charter in 1253, with a market every Saturday and a fair each June, and that market-town character has never really left the High Street. The reservoir at Bewl Water is close by, and the River Bewl and the Limden both rise within the parish, so the surrounding countryside pulls in walkers and day visitors on top of the local trade.
For three centuries Wadhurst was an iron town. In the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries the Weald iron industry ran hot here, and two of the grand Georgian houses on the High Street, Hill House and the Old Vicarage, were ironmasters’ homes. The parish church of St Peter and St Paul still holds a set of iron ledger-stone memorials to those ironmasters that are unique to this corner of the country. Church Street has a row of 13th and 14th-century cottages reckoned to be the oldest buildings in the town. The town paid a heavy price in the First World War, losing 149 men, 25 of them in a single day at the Battle of Aubers Ridge, and it is now twinned with Aubers in France as a result.
That depth of history is not just for visitors. It is the sort of concrete, true local detail that makes a website read as genuinely of the place, and Google increasingly rewards content that clearly belongs somewhere over generic copy that could be about anywhere. We write your site so it sounds like Wadhurst, because that is what your customers respond to and what search engines now look for.
The businesses we build for match the town: the independent shops that keep the High Street alive, trades and home services working across to Ticehurst, Burwash and over the Kent line to Lamberhurst, and small professional firms run from home. Bewl Water and the surrounding countryside also bring visitors, which gives food, drink and hospitality businesses here a real reason to be easy to find online.
Also covering: Ticehurst, Burwash, Mayfield, Lamberhurst, Cousley Wood, Tidebrook and the surrounding villages.
