Move off GoDaddy to a site that actually competes.

GoDaddy’s builder is fine for a placeholder, not for winning work. We move you to a proper professional site and keep your domain, which is likely already with them.

Moving off GoDaddy Website Builder is one of the most common jobs we do for tradespeople, because the domain was bought there and the builder was the easy extra in the basket. It is fine as a placeholder. It tends to look basic, load slowly and struggle to rank, which means it quietly costs you work. The domain itself is not the problem. The builder sitting on top of it is. You keep the domain, we handle the rest, and you end up with a site that actually competes.

It helps to separate two different GoDaddy products. Website Builder is the drag-and-drop site. Hosting (often with a control panel) is a box where a different site could live. Plenty of people think they have “a GoDaddy website” when they really have a domain, a builder subscription, and email that may or may not be tied to the same account. We untangle that before we touch anything. In most cases the domain stays exactly where it is. We build the new site, point the domain at it, and set up redirects so any ranking you have carries over.

Typical messes we see: a one-page builder site with no tap-to-call number, stock photos, and a “coming soon” that has been live for two years; email that broke the last time someone changed nameservers; a domain auto-renewing while the builder plan lapsed, so the address now hits a parked page. None of that is a reason to buy a new domain. It is a reason to stop using the builder. Your customers already know the address. We keep it.

Once you are live you get a fast, modern site built to be found on Google, with everything included in one price and a real person to call. No more wrestling with a drag-and-drop builder in the evenings. If you are a trade, start from websites for tradespeople. If you are comparing platforms rather than already on GoDaddy, our WordPress alternative explains the stack we use instead. A free website audit will tell you what the current builder page is actually doing.

Keep the domain, leave the builder

GoDaddy is a registrar first. That is why so many small firms are there. The Website Builder is an upsell, and it is a weak one for anyone who needs to win local work. Google is looking for speed, clear local wording and a page that answers the query. Builder templates rarely do that well. A parked domain or a thin “welcome to our site” page is worse. Moving off the builder does not mean leaving GoDaddy as your registrar. You can keep the domain there for as long as you like.

Nameservers are the sharp edge. Email, the website and any extra records (DKIM, a shop, a booking tool) all hang off DNS. Change the wrong record and mail stops. We leave mail alone until the website cutover is planned, then we change only what the site needs. If your mail is Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, it usually keeps working with no drama. If it is still on an old GoDaddy mailbox, we say so before we touch DNS rather than find out on a Monday morning.

Redirects still matter even when the old site only had a handful of pages. Old builder URLs, a www versus non-www mismatch, and HTTP to HTTPS all need a home. Google Business Profile often still points at an old address. We line that up as part of the switch. Your name, address and phone stay identical. A rebuild is exactly when those details drift, and local ranking notices.

AI assistants will not recommend a parked page or a thin builder site. They recommend businesses with a factual page they can quote. After the move we write what you do, where you work and how to contact you in plain English, add FAQ pairs, and check the crawlers are allowed in. That is ordinary good copy plus GEO if you want the extra push, from £99.

What we protect in the move

language

The domain does not move

In most cases it stays at GoDaddy, in your name. We point it at the new site. You keep the address customers already know.

mail

Email is planned, not guessed

We check how mail is set up before DNS changes. Workspace, Microsoft 365 or GoDaddy mail: the plan depends on what you actually have.

Builder and hosting are not the same

Website Builder is the drag-and-drop product. Hosting is a different box. We work out which you have so we do not cancel the wrong thing.

swap_horiz

Redirects from old builder URLs

Even a small site has old paths worth mapping. We 301 them so ranking and Google Business Profile links still work.

call

Built to win the call

Tap-to-call, real photos, the towns you cover. The opposite of a placeholder that has been “coming soon” for years.

smart_toy

A page AI can actually quote

Clear facts, FAQ pairs and crawler access, so ChatGPT has something to name when someone asks for a local firm.

How the move works

1

We untangle the GoDaddy account first

Domain, Website Builder, hosting and email are often four different things in one login. We note what you actually have before we change anything.

2

You keep your domain

It almost always stays at GoDaddy, in your name. We point it at the new site when that site is ready. No need to buy a new address.

3

We rebuild a proper site

We bring across your words and images and write anything that is missing. Your email is left alone until the DNS plan is agreed.

4

We set up redirects

Old builder addresses, www mismatches and HTTP links get 301s, so Google and old bookmarks land on the new site.

5

We switch over, then the builder can go

Only once the new site is live and checked do we point the domain. Then you can drop the Website Builder plan. Keep the domain if you want to.

Three steps. That’s it.

No jargon, no committees, no six-week timelines. We get your area businesses online fast.

Common questions

My domain is with GoDaddy. Can I keep it?
Yes. Your domain stays yours. In most cases we simply point it at the new site, so you keep the address your customers already know, with no need to buy a new one.
Is a GoDaddy Website Builder site really holding me back?
Often, yes. They tend to load slowly, look templated and lack the setup Google wants to see, so they rank poorly. A faster, properly built site usually shows up better and converts more of your visitors into calls.
What is the difference between GoDaddy Website Builder and GoDaddy hosting?
The builder is a locked drag-and-drop site on their platform. Hosting is server space where a different site can live. Plenty of accounts have a domain, a builder plan and email all mixed together. We sort that out before we migrate anything.
Will I lose anything in the move?
No. We bring your content across, keep your domain and email working, and redirect old pages so any ranking carries over. Your current site stays live until the new one is ready.
How much does it cost?
A £99 one-off setup plus £29 a month, or £299 a year, with the move included. Bigger or multi-page sites are quoted to match.
How quickly can it be done?
Usually about a week. We build and check the new site before switching your domain over, so there is no gap and no downtime.
Will Google and ChatGPT treat a builder site and a proper site differently?
Yes. A thin placeholder gives them almost nothing to rank or quote. A fast page with clear local facts, FAQ pairs and working crawler access is what both of them can use. GEO from £99 if you want that extra layer.
